Every figure on this site comes from the DoD Defense Travel Management Office’s own release for 2026, effective 01 JAN 2026. Nothing is estimated, interpolated or retyped. This page records exactly which file, because with this particular dataset that turns out to be the hard part.
DTMO publishes the rates two ways: a spreadsheet, and an ASCII archive containing one file per dependency status plus the ZIP-code-to-MHA map. This site imports the ASCII archive. The spreadsheet is not used, for a reason worth stating plainly: each workbook holds a With and a Without sheet, and in the mid-year reissue the sheet that opens by default is Without. A tool that reads whichever sheet is active loads without-dependents money into the with-dependents column and reports no error at all.
The 2026 archive ships five copies of the with-dependents table, and neither the filename nor the timestamp identifies the current one. Two of them carry the May reissue. A third, one underscore apart in its name and stamped later than the copy it duplicates, is byte-identical to the file DTMO labels as superseded and still holds the December figures.
For most areas the two agree. For Abilene/Dyess AFB, TX they do not: an E-5 with dependents reads $1,554 in the superseded copy and $1,872 in the live one, a difference of $318 a month, or $3,816 a year, untaxed. Reproductions that imported once in December and stopped are still publishing the lower number.
The importer here selects on content rather than on filename: any copy matching the one DTMO marks superseded is treated as superseded whatever it is called, and two live copies that disagree stop the import rather than being guessed between.
The rates are reproduced without adjustment. What is added is navigation: duty station names people actually use. DTMO ships FORT BRAGG/POPE, NC and never Fort Liberty, Fayetteville or 82nd, so orders written during the renaming would otherwise find nothing. Those alias lists are written by hand and survive every re-import.
Nothing else is inferred. Where a figure is not in the official file, no page claims one.
It is not a Department of Defense resource and has no government affiliation. Your Leave and Earnings Statement and your servicing finance office decide what you are paid. One difference that is usually not an error: a 2026 rate lower than last year’s. BAH rate protection holds you at the prior amount while your duty location, pay grade and dependency status stay the same, so a published figure can fall without your pay changing.
